This website was created as a source of information for those curious about Dixmont State Hospital, a former psychiatric hospital in Kilbuck Township, PA (a few miles outside of Pittsburgh). Those interested in urban exploration or abandoned photography will enjoy the large library of photos detailing all of the buildings on the former campus. Many visitors to this site may also be interested in the paranormal - while we do not aim to confirm or deny that Dixmont was haunted, this site focuses more on factual information regarding the hospital. We have researched and collected information, pictures, and video from a variety of sources in order to compile a balanced and accurate take on the hospital's long history. 

9/12/14 - Welcome to the new site!

DixmontHospital.com has finally been updated. The absence of updates for two years was because the hard drive of the computer that contained all of the original project files for the old site failed, meaning that it could no longer be edited. The new site has been rebuilt from scratch. Please bear with the design as it is still being tweaked. Some pages are still under construction and will simply redirect to the old page until they are finished. Many new photos and videos have been added, and each building now has its own page. Enjoy!
